Imphal, August 03 2019:
Chief Minister N Biren Singh has asserted that there is no greater deed for any politician than supporting the poor and the needy.
Speaking at a BJP membership drive which was organised at MSFDS auditorium, Palace Compound, under the aegis of BJP Manipur State Unit, the Chief Minister stated that there is no greater and honourable task at hand other than identifying the poor and needy people who are yet to avail any benefit from the many welfare schemes launched by the Government, and ensuring that the schemes reach those people and households.

Appealing to all those present at the gathering to work together for better governance, Biren said that it is necessary for BJP to form the next Government and to do so, the party needs to be close to the people and tend to the needs and wants of the people.
It is important to safeguard and uphold people's trust in the party for trust, once lost, cannot be regained easily.
It should not be forgotten that the votes will come from the people and the peoples' representatives should try to learn from the great and inspiring leaders who are idolised and worshipped by the people.
BJP does not lack people oriented leaders who believe in nationalism, the CM added.
He pointed out that the party will not receive love and support from the people if the party does not work sincerely in the interest of the masses at the right place and right time, Biren.
He continued that the enrolment process to the party, which was kick-started from July 6, is usually done through a phone call but for the remote areas where this is not possible, a large number of written applications have been received.
As it will take a long time to upload all the details, the CM urged the IT section and the enrolment team to work together to expedite the process.
He also appealed to all to work tirelessly to ensure the enrolment drive reaches 2 lakh figure, exceeding the 1.5 lakh target.
BJP National vice president and BJP National Membership in-charge Shivraj Singh Chauhan, who came to Imphal for a short visit, spoke during the event and conveyed that the State did not witness development for a long time and was riddled with bandhs and blockades during the rule of the Congress party.
But with the coming of the BJP-led Central Government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, more emphasis has been given to the North East region thus bringing rapid development in the region.
The fact that BJP won more than 300 seats and formed Government at the Centre for the second consecutive term with such a huge mandate is something unprecedented in the history of the country, he added.
He further stressed on the importance of ensuring that all welfare schemes reach the masses, and urged party workers and leaders not to lose people's trust.
Ex-MLA and BJP Manipur Pradesh vice president (president in-charge) Salam Joy, Ministers Th Biswajit, V Hangkhanlian, Th Radheshyam, Nemcha Kipgen and BJP Manipur Pradesh State membership in-charge L Deben Singh were also present during the event.
