4 hijackers nabbed, two rescued

Atleast four members of a gang involved in hijacking a Maruti van along Imphal Moreh road have been nabbed by Kakching district police commando while two people abducted by them have been rescued.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Huidrom Sunder (33) s/o H Shamu of Sekta Awang Leikai, Mutum Naobi Meitei (38) s/o M Mangi of Heingang Makha who is also a KCP surrenderee, Moirangthem Tomba s/o M Jogindro of Keirak Tomal Makhong Pareng (presently posted as a VDF at Kakching district) and Yumlembam Chitaranjan (39) s/o Y Keba of Kakwa Nameirakpam Leikai.
On the other hand, the two people rescued by police are the van driver Dilip Limbu (30) s/o Manbhahadur of Kanglatongbi Colony and Bhim Tamang (28) s/o Mohon Bhahadur Tamang of Dimapur (currently staying at Kanglatongbi).
Parading the arrested individuals today at her office, Kakching SP Victoria Yengkhom said that upon getting specific information, a team of Kakching district police commando launched a frisking and search operation at Sekmaijin Keithel today.
During the search, a suspicious Maruti car, without any registration number, approached the police team from Kakching side and it was halted.
Immediately, two of the passengers, out of the five occupants in the vehicles, revealed that they were being abducted by the three remaining persons and as such, they were promptly rescued by the police team while the others were arrested.
A case has been registered against the abductors by Kakching PS, Victoria added.
On the other hand, van driver Dilip said that he was ferrying some people from Moreh to Kanglatongbi when a Maruti car overtook them and forced them to stop near Kakching Lamkhai.
He continued that the people inside the car forced all the passengers from the van to come down while an individual from the Maruti car got inside the van and drove it way to Imphal side.
Dilip narrated that he along with another individual, Bhim Tamang, were then forced to climb inside the Maruti car which headed for an unknown location.
However, a police team stopped the car for checking and thus they were saved from their abductors, he said.
