Imphal, June 28 2014 :
The old aged and widow pensioners of Sagolband Tera Sapam Leirak have today deplored the denial of their pension payment by the staff of the State Bank of India.
The old aged and widow pensioners of the above mentioned area went to SBI as the concerned department has released cumulative amount of nine months for old aged and seven months for widow pensioners.
When questioned on the matter, the bank staff informed them to withdraw the amount through Ch Dhanajit Singh and Chingangbam Prabhabati Devi, both are business correspondent of the bank and the bank accounts were opened through them.
But the duo were not only unavailable but also switched off their mobile phones.
In order to highlight the grievances of the pensioners, the Pradhan of Sagolband Tera Sapam Leirak Gram Panchayat has condemned the act of the SBI in a press meet held today at Manipur Press Club charging that the denial of payment was against the right of the pensioners.
The Pradhan further stated that withdrawal of pension amount through business correspondent is illogical and further urged the two business correspodents not to interfere with the pension amount of the old aged and widow pensioners.
He also demanded to take action against the duo business correspondents.
