Imphal, June 28 2014 :
Volunteers of the Federation of Regional Indigenous Society (FREINDS) today pulled up and advised a man who reportedly wooed a girl through dubious means.
Speaking to media persons at their office today, FREINDS legal advisor Advocate Thoudam Manihar said that Ganesh alias Devkumar of Nagamapal was black mailing the girl since 2012 with an intention to take her as his wife.
Through intimidations and coercion, Ganesh alias Devkumar took the girl to a house at Thoubal and took Court marriage certificate from the Marriage Officer, Thoubal.
On the ground that they have been married legally, Ganesh threatened the girl saying that she has no right to marry another man.
Perturbed by Ganesh's repeated threats, the girl's family filed a complaint to FREINDS on June 24 .
Subsequently, Ganesh, the girl and their parents were called to FREINDS office and discussed the matter collectively.
The marriage certificate was also examined at the meeting and it turned out to be a forged one.
After admitting about his (Ganesh) intimidation of the girl and subsequent upon his assurance to stop threatening the girl, the matter was settled amicably, said Advocate Thoudam Manihar.
