Imphal, April 26:
Out-rightly disowning the affidavit-in-opposition allegedly signed by Movement for Tribal People's Rights Manipur (MTPRM) submitted to Gauhati HC by M Chandramani Singh deputy secretary of Education (S) MTPRM clarified that it had never inked signature in such documents.
In response to the writ petition, the deputy secretary representing the government, had submitted the documents to the Gauhati high Court in which the MTPRM had alegedly put their signatures, according to the tribal rights body.
MTPRM president S Ramhaoleng stated that they had never signed such documents and accused Chandramani of "distorting facts by producing fake representation/corrigendum with forged signatures purported to have been signed and submitted by the MTPRM".
The tribal rights body's chief said it had filed a PIL at Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench against the Department.
The MTPRM president further stated that the case was resorted on the backdrop of the Education department's misutilising of various funds meant for the improvement of infrastructures and for upliftment of sciences facilities.
Another factor that prompted MTPRM to take up such steps is the fake appointments.
"It may be noted that crores of rupees released for purchasing of scientific equipments were siphoned off without delivering the required items for several govt institutions", it alleged, adding, "we urge the Education department to refrain from such misleading and baseless practices to cover up their corrupt trend".
