Imphal, April 26:
This is definitely the last promise that the elected member of Khundrakpam A/C Th Nabakumar made when he said that the Sagolmang Community Health Centre (CHC) would be developed into one of the best CHCs in Manipur within a few years.
The MLA gave this assurance hours before he suffered a massive stroke.
Addressing a meeting specifically convened to deliberate on the ways and means to develop the CHC, Nabakumar pledged that he would urge the State Government to renovate the CHC building and to construct wall fencing around the CHC premises.

In a temporary arrangement to provide water to the CHC, a reservoir would be built at the nearby gulch or water would be drawn from Iril river using water pump from his Local Area Development Fund, he said.
Nabakumar also appealed to the people to help doctors and nurses do their duties properly and to keep the CHC neat and clean.
Among others, the meeting was also attended by Medical Director Dr Th Suresh, Additional Director Dr Pratap and CMO Imphal East Dr Sukumar.
The Medical Directorate also provided 10 new beds along with mattresses and bed sheets to the CHC today.
Director Dr Suresh said that out of nine doctors posted at Sagolmang CHC, three have taken leave.
Yet, the remaining six doctors can effectively manage the CHC.
He further assured that an X-Ray technician would also be posted at the CHC.
Under the National Rural Health Mission, construction works for an OPD room, a labour room and staff quarters have been initiated.
Regarding the inordinate delay in completing the construction work, Dr Suresh called upon the people to ask the authority concerned and to look into the matter.
The State Government has trained about 40 specialist doctors but most of them have joined RIMS, he rued.
Even at JN Hospital, there is not a single specialist doctor, informed Dr Suresh.
He went on to say that there would be no specialist doctors even after 20 years from now unless the State Government prevent the specialist doctors from joining other hospitals and clinics not run by the State Government.
