Imphal, September 19 2011:
Expressing serious concerned over arbitrary hike in the prices of essential commodities by traders, Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation (TAKDO) has demanded the Government to ensure goods are made available to the public at their exact rate by September 24 .
In case of failure, women volunteers of TAKDO would take over the responsibility of escorting vehicles in lifting of the goods required for the people of Thangmeiband, publicity secretary of TAKDO announced in a statement.
The present problem being faced by the people from prolonged imposition of economic blockade along the National Highways is not shortage of food items but arbitrary hike in the prices by businessmen and traders.
There is no shortage of foods provided one is able to shell out the price bargained for.
So, the Government should ensure that the prices of the goods are controlled and made available to the people, TAKDO demanded.
