Imphal, November 12 2014:
People residing along Langjing-Iroisemba CRPF road are set to oppose the construction of Imphal ring road if the Government does not revoke its decision of acquiring 30 metres of land from the residential side alone between Langjing and Iroisemba.
This is because the CRPF Group Centre, Langjing has refused to share the other side of the road for the purpose, said the people who are to be affected.
They today formed a Joint Action Committee (JAC) in this regard and demanded the Government to acquire land from the side of CRPF Langjing camp as well.
JAC member Thoudam Bocha said that the Government can take 15 metres each from both the sides of the road and it is not agreeable to the proposal to acquire the whole 30 metres from the residential side alone.
Saying that a team of Government officials had recently surveyed the area for land acquisition in this connection, Bocha said that people of the area would strongly oppose the Government's move if it does not change its decision.
The planned 46-km Imphal ring road, which starts from Maharaja Gambhir Singh statue, Langthabal, passes through Takyel Kolom Leikai, Langjing, CRPF road, Iroisemba, Iroisemba Zoo, Games Village, Langol, Shija Hospital, Fishery Crossing, Civil Secretariat, Mantripu-khri, Khabam Lamkhai, Paonam Leikai, Chaithabi Leirak, JNIMS road, Ayangpalli road, Kongba bazar and Langthabal.
