Driver hurt in blast near Raj Bhavan

Imphal, June 26 2015 :
Despite heavy security and routine area sanitization carried out by State police and CRPF, a powerful IED exploded inside a building located on Governor road near Raj Bhavan at Paona bazar at around 5 am today.
One person received minor injury in the blast.
The building belongs to retired IPS officer Potshangbam Dhanakumar and it is said to have been leased out to some private companies.
The blast occurred on the staircase between the second floor and third floor of the building.

Office of Life Cell is located on the second floor while Gurgaon based Shyama Power India Limited is using the third floor as its office.
Apart from shattering the window panes and doors, around 6-ft of the wall was totally damaged by the powerful impact of the blast.
Water tanker driver Th Ibungo 21 s/o Suba of Itam Nungoi Mayai Leikai, who was unloading water at a nearby building received minor injury.
Soon after the blast, a police team led by Imphal West Additional SP (Law and Order) S Ibomcha rushed to the spot and investigated the blast.
Later, teams of Forensic Science Laboratory, Pangei and State bomb experts also came at the site for investigation.
City police have taken up a case regarding the incident.
