Imphal, April 21 2016:
Just two days ahead of the President's visit to the State to attend the Khongjom Day function and inaugurate a monument-cum-tourist centre at Khongjom Kheba Ching on April 23, the Khongjom War Memorial Trust has today slammed the alleged misadventure of the State Government.
During a press meet held at Manipur Press Club this afternoon, president of the Khongjom War Memorial Trust, and former Minister Moirangthem Hemanta told reporters that the State's Government's endeavours to make the President of India inaugurate the Khongjom War Memorial site would be meaningless as former President of India, VV Giri had already inaugurated it on October 21, 1972 .
Pointing out that the bronze adhesion work on the pillar of the structures is still to be executed, he said it has become a tradition of the existing Government to inaugu- rate buildings and structures in incomplete form just to portray its 'vibrancy' to the public.
Further maintaining that the act of the Government is to dupe the public, he slammed the Government saying that facilitating the President to inaugurate a raw structure and trying to make him involve in such acts is an insult to the President.
Saying that a previously planned structure of a sword that is to be the tallest in the world was replaced with a trident shape model, Hemanta alleged the Government has no proper planning and fails to keep its words.
Hemanta further criticised the inauguration of the Kodompokpi Sports Complex in Thoubal saying that the complex is left orphaned as it was not handed over to the District Sports Authority (DSA) and rather leaving it to the charge of sports associations which are not affiliated to the Manipur Olympic Association (MOA) .
He further stated that the playground inaugurated yesterday cannot be utilised yet due to some laxities.
