Left parties hold campaign meeting

The 6th campaign meeting of Left parties was held today at the gate of ISBT Khuman Lampak.
The meeting was a part of the campaign launched since April 16 by CPI, CPI-M, RSP, Forward Bloc, and CPI-ML.
The main agenda of the meeting were corruption and communalism, potable water and food security and electoral reformation, conveyed a press release issued by the Left Parties Coordination Committee.
Addressing the meeting, CPI State Secretary Dr M Nara asserted that the State Government and PHED serve no purpose when they are unable to supply potable water to public.
While political leaders and administrators have been enjoying packaged drinking water, people are using rain water.
He also called upon all the people not to give any living space to people involved in smuggling drugs.
CPI-M State Secretary Sarat Salam said that the BJP Government at the Centre has been working at the behest of RSS who are driven by their ideology of Hindutva.
The NDA Government led by BJP is only concerned with the welfare of Hindus and they are hostile to other communities, he alleged.
CPI leader Laishram Sotinkumar stressed on the growing need for reformation of the electoral system currently in practice.
Forward Bloc State Secretary Khomdram Gyaneshwar said that Left parties active in Manipur are all prepared to defeat both Congress and BJP in the forthcoming IMC election.
Kshetrimayum Santa of CPI-M, N Ratan of RSP, K Manoranjan of RSP, Khwairakpam Apanthoi of Forward bloc and Yumnam Indrani of Working Women Forum too spoke at the meeting.
