Locals warn of banning Nambul River project

Unhappy with the way Nambul River Project has been going on, irate locals of Keishamthong area are set to ban the said project for the alleged failure to maintain quality of the work.
Members of Youth Club Keishamthong inspected the retaining wall construction along the Nambul River today and detected irregularities in the work.
The three meters high retaining wall constructed from the river bed was found to be constructed in a sub-standard manner.
Nambul River Project started somewhere September last year with different contractors working in different areas, said a worker.
The retaining wall is of one foot thick and pillar after every 1.5 meter apart.

The construction work is taken up as per the guidelines set by engineers and other officials from the department concerned.
Officials have also regularly inspected the work, the worker added.
General secretary of Youth Club Keishamthong Meisnam Korouhanba contradicting the statements of the workers alleged that it is unfortunate that workers are not following the standard construction module.
Such reckless action from the part of the workers could result to disastrous consequences and urged the local MLA of Keishamthong Assembly Constituency to look into the matter urgently.
Unless an understanding is brought, construction work of Nambul River Project will be put on hold, he added.
