Mobile Diagnostic Laboratory (I-LAB) launched for Covid testing in Mizoram

The Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal launched Mobile Diagnostic Laboratory (I-LAB) for Covid testing for the State of Mizoram today.
The I-LAB was launched virtually by Zoramthanga, Chief Minister of Mizoram and Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Science & Technology, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India in the presence of Dr Rajesh S Gokhale, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, Govt of India, Dr R Lalthangliana, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Govt of Mizoram and Professor Pulok Kumar Mukherjee, Director, IBSD, Imphal, said a press release by IBSD, Imphal.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, IBSD has provided technical and instrumental support for testing and surveillance of Coronavirus under the leadership of Prof Pulok K Mukherjee.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Mukherjee mentioned about the different initiatives taken up by IBSD to fight against COVID-19 and highlighted the importance and features of Mobile I-Lab to facilitate large scale testing and detection of people in remote areas in the state of Mizoram and other states of North East Region (NER) .
Dr Gokhale highlighted the role of Mobile I-Lab for the remote areas of NER especially during the third wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
On this occasion, Dr R Lalthangliana appreciated the efforts of Prof Pulok K Mukherjee for providing Mobile I-Lab for the State of Mizoram.
Dr Jitendra Singh congratulated the Chief Minister of Mizoram for dedicating Mobile I-Lab for the remote areas of NER.
He appreciated this initiative of Secretary, DBT for providing such mobile facility for Mizoram as the first state in NER with IBSD.
He mentioned that such mobile testing facilities should be linked to telemedicine in future.
The Chief Minister of Mizoram thanked Dr Jitendra Singh for providing mobile I-Lab facility for the State of Mizoram to combat Covid-19 pandemic.
The programme was attended by scientists from DBT, IBSD, BIRAC, MOES, AMTZ team and officials of State departments of Mizoram, added the press release.
