Radheshyam, Rajen rule out leadership change

Imphal, June 16 2019: In spite of the open revolt by a sizeable number of MLAs against the leadership of Chief Minister N Biren, two BJP MLAs namely Th Radheshyam and S Rajen have categorically stated that there is no question of changing the coalition Government's leadership.

Speaking to media persons at Imphal International Airport on their return from Delhi, Th Radheshyam who is also Education Minister claimed that there is no resentment against the coalition Government's leadership.

It is only natural for mankind to aspire for greater heights but this does not mean there is hostility or enmity among the ruling MLAs, Radheshyam said.

Responding to queries raised by media persons, Radheshyam said that in a team members of the team may have different opinions and views.

Chief Minister N Biren would return to Imphal shortly after meeting some Central leaders including Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Claiming that the political crisis would be resolved soon, Radheshyam said that people would see whether there is any change in the coalition Government or not after N Biren returns to Imphal.

He also rejected the reports published in newspapers and social media that Ministers have been camping at Delhi.

Ministers are there at Delhi to meet their respective Union Ministers and seek funds for their respective departments, he claimed.

Saying that he went to Delhi to attend an all India conference of Sainik Schools, Radheshyam informed that the Central Government has agreed to hike Central assistance to the State's education sector by Rs 200 crore this year from previous year's Rs 240 crore.

He also dismissed the reports that all the Ministers were camping at Delhi and there were no Ministers at Imphal.

All the Ministers have met their respective Union Ministers and highlighted their plans and requirements of their respective departments.

N Biren too had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav.

He is awaiting an appointment with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Radheshyam conveyed.

The Chief Minister and the Ministers went to Delhi to improve the State's financial situation and initiate new projects and schemes, claimed the Education Minister.

Saying that there would be no reshuffling of portfolios, Radheshyam contended that the State Government ran into overdraft due to delay in releasing funds on account of formation of a new Government at the Centre.

RBI's notification was addressed to the State Bank of India, not the State Government.

"BJP being a National party of high discipline which has its own ideology and philosophy, we are hopeful that the discord within the State's coalition Government would resolved soon", Radheshyam said.

MLA S Rajen who is also the Deputy Chairman of Planning Board too claimed that BJP Central leaders have no intention of changing the State's political leadership.

Even if there are some minor differences and discords, the Government is running smoothly, and the reports of MLAs opening rival camps are not true, Rajen added.
