SUK inspects Laphupat schools

Students' Union of Kangleipak (SUK) today inspected three Government schools located at Laphupat area today.
Three primary schools of the area were found in a deplorable state as teachers did not to come to the school and some classrooms were changed into pig rearing sheds.
Terakhong Ahanbi Primary School Headmaster Khwairakpam Chandrakumar was found absent for around three-four years.
Although an SSA teacher has been deputed at the school some time back, she can't not take class as the school does not have a school building.
However, one Ningthoujam Sonia has been taking class of around 30 students of the school at her own extended house (mamang shangoi) .
According to the Mid-day Meal cook of the school, Ningthoujam Inaocha, the school does not get adequate rice and pulses for Mid-day meal regularly.
Meanwhile, an SUK spokesperson told reporters that contractors had not completed construction of the building and toilet of the school although they had withdrawn the necessary amount long time back.
The condition at Terakhong Government Primary School was also no different.
According to the SUK spokesperson, Headmaster Basanta does not attend school even for 30 days in a year.
The school, which must have around seven teachers, has only two teachers.
Even as the Headmaster is allegedly not taking any interest in running the school properly, contractors have not completed construction of the classrooms.
According to the cook of the school, Ningthoujam Landhoni, who also donated the land of the school, the Government does not provide adequate material for Mid-day meal scheme.
At Khordak Khongban Primary School, a local woman namely, Salam Shanti has been teaching the students alone since past two years as no teacher has turned up to take their duty.
Construction of extended buildings and toilets were found laying incomplete in the school.
SUK spokesperson alleged that ZEO, DI, AI and contractors are misappropriating funds of all these three schools.
He expressed concern over local MLA Kh Ratankumar and Education Minister M Okendra's silence on such serious matters.
