Demanding immediate removal of the IRB post from Moreh, Kuki Women Union for Human Rights (KWURH) and Kuki Students Union Moreh block have jointly imposed an indefinite bandh at Moreh from 8 this morning.
According to KWURH leaders, the demand for removing the III IRB post from Moreh was made after personnel of III IRB indiscriminately fired at the Moreh Ward III area last night resulting in the destruction of three residential houses.
A massive public rally organized by the KWURH was also taken out at 10 this morning condemning the action of the IRB personnel.
The rally which was participated by about 1000 people began from Galngam ground and passed through Nepali Basti, Chawangphai and Forest Gate.
The rallyists also staged a sit in protest in front of the Moreh PS after the rally.
All Moreh bound buses coming from Imphal were also forced to turn back by the protesters.
According to reports received from Moreh, the incident occurred when IRB personnel began firing indiscriminately while taking two UGs to the Moreh PS.
The two UGs were apprehended by the IRB personnel from near the Moreh Bridge last night.
The arrested youths have been identified Thangkhomang Haokip alias Mamang alias Mangboi (25) of Bijang Churachandpur and Lamminlein Haokip alias alias James alias Kakam (24) South Molcham Churachandpur.
One M-20 pistol, six live rounds, one 9 mm pistol and and six live rounds were recovered from the duo, added the report.
