As assured, the Court of Inquiry instituted to probe the death of Th Manorama was completed today (July 27) but it is yet to be finalized.
In a statement issued to the press, PIB (Defence Wing) said that "some lapses by the Assam Rifles personnel, in implementation of instructions issued by the Army Authorities for conduct of such operations have been revealed.
However, allegation regarding rape can only be commented once the forensic report is received by the Army Court from the State Authorities, A few civilian witnesses, though summoned by the Court of Inquiry, have not responded to the request by the Army Authorities and the State Government has been requested to make them available at the earliest, in order to finalize the Inquiry".
The statement assured that the security force remain committed to bring the case to its logical conclusion at the earliest and take appropriate action against those found guilty.
Sources informed The Sangai Express that the vaginal swab and undergarments of Th Manorama have been sent to Kolkata for histopathology test.
A senior police officer informed that the results of the forensic test from Kolkata is expected to arrive here within this week.
