Imphal, January 25, 2011:
Decrying the failure of the Government to make any headway in its investigation into the murder of BSEM Chairman Dr N Kunjabihari, the JAC constituted in connection with the murder has decided to stay away from the Republic Day celebrations.
The murder of Dr Kunjabihari inside his office chamber at Babupara which is one of the most security jammed area in the State rather than at his home or road has serious implications.
The murder had all the indications of a sinister conspiracy hatched at the highest level.
A press release issued by the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Dr N Kunjabihari Singh, Chairman BSEM demanded that the murder case should be handed over to CBI without any further delay.
All preparations have been made to intensify the ongoing protest movements launched since January 22 together AMSU, MSF and DESAM.
Informing that a public meeting would be held in MDU Hall on January 29 on the issue, it invited all concerned citizens to share their thoughts.
It also questioned the inability of Manipur Police to find any lead regarding the murder of Dr N Kunjabihari even after 15 days of the heinous crime whereas they could nab the accused of Telipati bomb blast on the next day.
The JAC wondered if some power is holding back the police.
Decrying the hurried announcement of HSLC exam programme even though the same exam is 60 to 75 days away, the JAC asked if this move is aimed at diluting the protest movement and cover up clues of the murder.
All exam processes should be suspended immediately otherwise BSEM officials should be held responsible for any untoward incident resulting from their action, the JAC added.
Meanwhile, decrying the killing, students and guardians staged a protest demonstration at Wangkhei today.
