A girl killed, eight injured in attack on Imphal bound bus at Karbi Anglong

Imphal, January 25, 2011:
Barely a day after three persons kidnapped by KPLT cadres were released, armed miscreants attacked an Imphal bound passenger bus coming from Guwahati at Deohpani on NH 39, killing a girl and injuring eight other passengers including the driver.
The attack on the bus occurred around 3.30 am near the place where three persons were abducted after attacking gas bullet tankers on January 16. Cadres of the KLPT are suspected to be behind the attack.
Reports said the miscreants tried to stop the bus and a truck which was following it.
They started firing indiscriminately with automatic weapons when the vehicles refused to stop.
In the firing the truck took a u-turn from the spot, the report added.
Details of the dead girl and injured persons could not be culled out till the time of filing this report but the injured driver is said to be one Inao from Thoubal district.
They were admitted at a hospital in Dimapur.
The ill-fated bus belongs to Super Zet Travel Agency.
Meanwhile, a report from the Army denied the death of any of the passengers in the attack.
