Governor, GOC greet people on R-Day

The Governor of Manipur Gurbachan Jagat greets the people of the state on the occasion of the 62nd Republic Day.
In a message, Governor Gurbachan Jagat stated that the occasion marks the beginning of a new era to build the society on a more humane and just basis, free from social discrimination, economic inequalities and religious prejudices.
The Republic Day is a day when every Indian salutes, remembers and express gratitude to the valiant freedom fighters both known and many more unknown, who made supreme and selfless sacrifices in the long freedom struggle.
It is the day when India's learned and distinguished statesmen put into effect the Constitution of India.
The Day also reminds the Indians about the added responsibility and opportunity to make our country stronger and more prosperous.
It has been predicted that the 21st century is the century of Asia.
India must strive to be one of the leaders towards fulfillment of this prediction.
The Constitution of India has served as a beacon for the young democracy to establish the rule of law and assert the supremacy of the people.
India's democracy has stood the trials and tests of time and the supremacy of the people has been demonstrated time and again through the ballot in successive elections.
Today Indians stand taller in the eyes of all freedom loving people of the world, self reliant and self confident and the country�s prestige is on the rise internationally.
Gurbachan Jagat urged the people of the state to uphold and promote the secular, socialist and democratic values enshrined in the Constitution and also to work unitedly for making the country stronger and more prosperous.
On the other hand, Lieutenant General NK Singh, AVSM, VSM, GOC 3 Corps and Major General DS Hooda, VSM ** have also conveyed their greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of the 61st Republic Day of the country.
In his message, General Hooda, GOC, Red Shield Division said, "On this occasion, we should resolve to contribute our best in our own individual capacities for the betterment and prosperity of the State.
May this resolve usher into the State a new era of peace, prosperity and happiness and may God bless all the citizens of Manipur.
