Imphal, July 23 2010:
The Zeliangrong peoples' convention at Peren in Nagaland on July 30 may not go well as more and more Zeliangrong organisations are opposing to that convention.
After the Zeliangrong Union, Assam, Nagaland and Manipur (ZU-AMN)'s decision not to participate in the July 30 convention, the Village Authority Chairman Council (VACC) of Tamenglong district has come out with its stand today not to participate in that convention.
The Zeliangrong Interim Body (ZIB) has been organising for the July 30 Peren programme but the ZU-AMN and VACC sad that ZIB is not a legitimate body to convene such convention.
According to ZU-AMN and VACC, the ZIB was constituted at the Zeliangrong Public Convention held at Tamenglong on October 30 last year to decide a common nomenclature for the Zeliangrong apex body within three months.
"Since the ZIB failed to do its job, and its term had expired on January 31, 2010, the ZIB has no authority to exercise its activities," said the ZU-AMN.
Both the Zeliangrong Union and the VACC appealed the Zeliangrong public not to participate in that July 30 meeting.
