Imphal West District Council of DESAM today conducted an inspection drive in five schools of Imphal West district.
In a statement of DESAM issued by Secy Gen of Imphal West District Council, W Surjit informed that 5 schools of Imphal West district were inspected during the drive namely, Laijing Ningthou Govt.Junior H/S, Lalambung H/S, Gurukul Hijam Diwan Junior H/S, Lalambung Primary School and N Tomchou Hr Sec School.
The inspection team of DESAM found a teacher of Laijing Ningthou Govt.Junior H/S namely N Deven indulging in unethical activities.
He signed the attendant register from May to June, 2010 as Secy Org cum Publicity & Info of AMESTA Zone � I.He signed for 32 and 33 days in those two months.
He is found attending the school only for 1 or 2 days in a week and put his signatures for the remaining days also.
Out of the 91 students in the schools only 21 are found attending the school.
The condition of its toilet is abysmal.
The school building which was constructed only last year through SSA grant was found unsafe to use.
The partition wall had been crumbled down.
The building of Lalambung H/S is likely to crumble down at any moment.
Some teachers of the School signed at the attendance register on sundays , Good Friday and other days which are declared as holidays by the state govt.On 26th Jan (Republic Day), W Sanatombi and K Ibemcha put their signatures on the attendance register.
On 2nd Apr (Good Friday) N Mema signed the attendance register.
On 23rd Apr (Khongjom Day) Y Sobharani attended the school as per the attendance register maintained by the school.
The school building of Gurukul Hijam Diwan Junior H/S is like a pre-historic relic.
The authority concerned had been repeatedly requested to renovate the school building but to no avail.
In spite of the unsafe condition of the school building, some students were found attending the classes.
Lalambung Primary School is marred with lack of teachers and having no functional classroom.
Even the meagre amount sanctioned by SSA for the development of the school has left unutilized.
DESAM appeal to all concerned not to block the development fund of the school.
Some teachers of N Tomchou Hr Sec School, Mayang Imphal are found to sign their names on Sundays.
Those teachers are Bimola, Gyaneshwari, Jogen and N Dhamendra.
The school is in need of 2 Chemistry teachers, 2 Manipuri teachers and 1 English teacher.
The newly constructed toilet is unusable and there is not enough furniture for the students and staff.
Nine rooms of the school which had been constructed 2 years ago cannot be used now as quality had not been maintained during the construction.
