Imphal, September 22 2010:
Distribution of BS (Bharat Stage) III petrol and diesel through the retail outlets (oil pumps) of Indian Oil Corporation Limited in Manipur has begun from today.
According to an official source, as the BS-II petrol and diesel in the stock is over, distribution of BS-III petrol and diesel through the retail outlets have been started from today.
With commencement of distributing BS-III petrol and diesel, retail sale price has also been revised.
As per the revised rate, the price of petrol has been increased to Rs 50.77 per litre and that of the ExtraPremium to Rs 53.27 per litre.
Subsequent to the revised rate, one litre of petrol would cost Rs 51.02 while that of Extra-Premium would cost Rs 53.52 per litre in Jiribam and in Churachandpur one litre of petrol would cost Rs 50.78 while Extra-Premium would cost Rs 51.28 per litre, the source said, adding that the rate in other districts would be the same as in Imphal.
As for diesel, the rate has been increased to Rs 37.21 per litre and Rs 38.15 for Extra-Premium.
There would be no difference in the rate of diesel from one district to another, the source conveyed.
The source further explained that distribution of BS-III fuel has been started from today as the stock of BS-II fuel has exhausted and there is difficulty in transporting adequate fuel to Manipur since August 20 on account of a massive landslide along National Highway 39 in Nagaland.
It may be noted here that although distribution of BS-III fuel has already been started in other States, in Manipur its formal launch was initially planned on October 2 .
