Indo-Myanmar Association has petitioned the Ambassador of Myanmar to India, who recently visited Manipur as part of the ASEAN Ambassadors' team , for allowing import of essential commodities including petroleum products from Myanmar to Manipur.
An eight-member delegation of Indo-Myanmar Association called on the Ambassador of Myanmar in the evening of September 19 at Hotel Classic and submitted a memorandum in this regard.

For popularisation of Burmese language, the memorandum proposed that two students from Manipur should be sponsored every year to study Burmese language at one of the prominent universities at Yangon and two teachers should be deputed to the Manipur University.
The Association has also proposed for setting up immigration offices at Moreh and Tamu for issuing visas, allowing entry of Meiteis residing in Myanmar to visit Manipur through Tamu and exchange of cultural troupes between Manipur and Myanmar.
Talking to mediapersons in this connection at the office of Indo-Myanmar Association today, Association secretary LC Ruhinikumar informed that the Ambassador of Myanmar had also given his assurance on looking into the points that have been highlighted in the memorandum.
