Imphal, March 15:
The Working Committee of the Apunba Lup has despatched over 500 Hindi text books surrendered by students of various schools to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh today as part of its agitation to ban teaching Hindi and NCC as part of its demand to totally revoke the Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Manipur.
Taking to mediapersons at Sagolband today, Co-ordinator of the Apunba Lup Sapamcha Kangleipal informed that the Hindi books were sent through post.
The agitation of banning Hindi text books and NCC has been taken up after 18 anti-AFSPA activists were detained under NSA, he recalled.
On the stand of the Lup in banning teaching of Hindi in schools, Kangleipal said imposition of teaching Hindi text books in schools without listening to the demand of the people to lift Armed Forces Special Powers Act is akin to imposition of English language to the people during the British colonial rule.
