Ukhrul, March 15:
More than 3000 people turned up during the two day free health camp organised by State Health Department at Ukhrul District Hospital which concluded today.
over 11 different specialists took part in the camp where most of these specialist are not available in Ukhrul District Hospital.
A one day seminar on women & child with special emphasis on HIV/ AIDS was also organized by the MACS on March 14.Dr AK Surendra, Director of Health Service & Pr.
Secretary (Health), Govt of Manipur was the chief guest of the programme.
However, the seminar failed to live upto the expectation of the participants as scores of social organizations felt deprived and duped when questions put up to the resource persons failed to yeild positive response.
In the meantime, Tangkhul Youth Council, Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL), Naga People Movement for Human Rights condemned the UDH & State Health Dept for ignoring basic infrastructure need of the only Hospital.
When this correspondent contacted the Director (Health) as regards to the three doctors who were yet to report for duty to UDH, the director evaded a direct reply but said that he will vigorously investigate the matter to ascertain facts and take appropriate action.
It is pertinent to mention that these three doctors were transferred to the hospital seven months back.
However till date they failed to report for duty.
On the contrary, the free Eye Camp organised by Ro-tary Club, Ukhrul in collaboration with Ophthalmic Mobil Unit & Leishiphung Christian Hospital has started with over 500 patients examined.
