Unidentified gunmen assaulted four passengers of three passenger buses at Litankhong on the Imphal-Ukhrul road yesterday afternoon at around 1.20, said sources.
The injured persons have been identified as Ashengbam Shantikumar of Andro Machengpat, Irengbam Premkumar of Chanam Sandrok, and Himat Nepali of Kanglatongbi and Angom Rajkumar.
Ashengbam Shantikumar is presently under going treatment at a hospital as he sustained grievous injuries.
The registration numbers of the three passenger buses from which the four passengers were pulled down are MN-01-1596, MN-01-1326 and MN-01-1263.According to the injured persons, unidentified gunmen stopped the passenger buses at Litankhong and checked the buses.
On finding some liquor inside one of the buses, the gunmen began physically assaulting the handy man, drivers and some passengers.
Following the incident, all passenger bus service on the Imphal-Ukhrul road remained suspended today.
Meanwhile, a meeting between representatives of All Manipur Road Transport Drivers and Motors Works Union and Tangkhul Nagalong was held at the Union's office at Khuman Lampak today.
