Imphal, January 12:
Taking serious note of the ongoing fratricide among blood-brothers, four women bodies of the State have called for an immediate halt to the ongoing factional feud failing which the mothers would themselves resort to drastic action.
A joint press release of Women's Association for Civic Action Kangleipak, All Manipur Muslim Women Development Organisation, All Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup and Apunba Imasinggee Punshi Amadi Sintha Kanba Lup condemning the factional fight said the mothers can no longer tolerate such blood-shed.
In case the youth who took up arms in the name of fighting for independence can no longer uphold the principle of revolution and visualise the aspiration of the masses it would be a wiser option for them to return to normal life and assist their mothers who are toiling to earn a livelihood.
The bloodshed among the armed cadres is a far cry from what revolution movement ought to be and such frequent incidents have also created chaos and anxiety in the society, said the joint statement without making direct reference to any particular incident or outfit.
Maintaining that in-depth introspection is needed by those pursuing the path of violence, the women bodies said the mothers would not remain silent spectators when the youth under the guise of revolution put the people under duress.
In the stubborn pursuit to claim righteousness over the other and resorting to arms to eliminate one another, the brunt of the killing will ultimately be felt by the society in general and the mothers in particular, said the statement.
As the armed youths have failed to comply positively to constant pleas for reconciliation and strive for the cherished goal unitedly, the mothers are sometimes made to ponder why they have given birth to such truant children whose only agenda is to compound hardships faced by society, the bodies regretted while questioning the motive of youth who consider their brethren as enemies.
It further observed that ongoing fratricide had belittled the cause of the general masses in highlighting brutalities of security force personnel as there is little differences between the sons of the soil killing one another and security personnel eliminating innocent persons.
"Past history had provided enough evidence of negative consequences befalling Manipur due to disunity among ourselves and trudging along the same path by the educated youths of the modern generation is beyond imagination of the mothers," said the bodies.
