Imphal, January 12:
Tribal students' bodies of Chandel district have strongly opposed to appointment of non-local and resident per sons as assistant teachers under Autonomous District Council, Chandel.
In a memorandum jointly submitted to Tribal DevelopmentMinister yesterday, Mongsang Naga Students' Union, Moyon Naga Students' Union, Lamkang Naga Students' Union and Anal Naga Students Union contended that appointment of non-local people is against the provisions given in the State Gazette and it would not be tolerated by the student community or the public of Chandel district.
The memorandum said that out of 144 assistant teachers to be appointed, ninety five candidates of the post are non-local.
