After minutely discussing the report submitted by the C Upendra Commission constituted to probe the death of school girl N Sanjita who committed suicide at Jiribam on October 14, 2003 after being allegedly molested/ raped by 12 Grenadiers personnel, the Cabinet which met today decided to table the report on the floor of the House.
The Commission was instituted after allegations was raised that the school girl took her own life after she was raped by the security personnel.
With the Centre agreeing to the proposal of the State Govt to set up the V and VI IRB Bns, the Cabinet also decided to conduct the recruitment rally within six months time.
The strength of each Bn will be 1007.The maintenance cost of each of the two proposed IRB annually has been worked at Rs 15.75 lakhs.
Out of this the Centre will release Rs 13 lakhs annually for each Bn while the State's share will be just Rs 2.75 lakhs per year, said a well placed source today.
Among others, the Cabinet also decided to fill up the vacant posts of Grade I and Grade III in the State Judiciary Service.
The retaining fee of the Advocate General will also be hiked from Rs 4 thousand to Rs 10 thousand while the fee of appearing in the High Court for will now be Rs 2000 per day.
In the case of appearing in the Supreme Court, the fee will be Rs 5000 per day as per the Cabinet decision taken today.
The salaries of the Junior Advocates attached to the AG office will be hiked from Rs 7,500 per month to Rs 8,500 per month.
The State Level Autonomous Agency under the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Dept will now be re-christened Manipur Rural Road Development Agency and its HoD will be known as the Chief Engineer cum State Quality Co-ordinator.
Earlier in the day a meeting of the SPF was also held where the progress reports of the Department of each Minister were submitted to the Chief Minister.
