A combined force of the UKLF and the KRA shot dead the chief of the KNA at Diyang in Churachandpur district today at about 6.30 pm.
Informing this, the administration secretary of KRA L Jacob said that the KNA chief, Vipin Haokip, was given the capital punishment for working against the interest of the Kuki people as well as acting as an agent of the Indian Government.
In another incident, troops of the 13 Assam Rifles gunned down a militant suspected to be a KNA cadre at a spot between Molnom Village and Pashong Village under Litan PS this morning at round 5, said sources.
The victim has been identified as one Jamkhopao Kuki (19) of Pashong village.
One US made carbine, one bullet and seven empty cases were recovered from the slain person.
Litan police have retrieved the body and deposited it at RIMS morgue.
Meanwhile, the body of Tontang Koshang (18) who was gunned down by KNA cadres on Jan 7 was taken back by family members after post mortem at RIMS today.
Family members decided to take back the body after the Chief Minister assured to provide an ex gratia of Rs one lakh and take up security measures for passenger buses plying on the Sinakeithel-Imphal road.
On the other hand, the body of a PREPAK cadre which had been lying at RIMS morgue after being, killed in a factional fight at Khordak Ichin was handed over to family members after post mortem at RIMS today.
The victim has been identified as one Loitongbam Rosen (16) s/o Nilachandra of Wangoo Laipham Chuthek presently residing at Langol Housing Complex.
He is reported to have joined PREPAK in Feb last year.
The bodies of one of the youths killed by 28th AR personnel at Bongba Village under Yairipok PS was also taken from RIMS morgue today by the victim's family members.
The victims have been identified as Saikhom Shamungou (20) of Nongbra Awang Leikai and Sanasam Ngongo (15) of Nongbra Makha Leikai.
The body of S Deven (35) of Yurembam Maning Leikai was also taken back by family members after post mortem at RIMS today following an understanding with the Govt.The decision to take back the body was taken after the CM in a meeting with the representatives of JAC against the illegal firing of Sinam Deven assured to provide ex gratia payment and a Govt job to one of the victim's family members.
