The bodies of the four KLA cadres and that of the civilian drivers who were reportedly shot dead during an encounter with troops of 12 Maratha Light Infantry at Mokot Chepu in Ukhrul District on the night of September 7 have claimed taken by their respective families.
The family members claimed the bodies of KLA cadres identified as Phang-khochon Haokip (27) of Changnomphai in Churachandpur district, Lokholam Haokip (25) of Moreh in Chandel district, Lalunlen Kilong (23) of Aigejang in Senapati District and Thanglenmang (24) of Phaimol also in Senapati as well as that of the civilian driver Mairem Mahendra (41) after post-mortem examinations at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital today.
On the other hand, the body of Ngasepam Danny alias Bode (26) of Sega Road Khwairakpam Leikai who was among six alleged UG suspects shot dead during encounters with a combined force of Imphal West Police Commandos and 12 Maratha Light Infantry on he night of September 8 at Awang Khunou under Patsoi Police Station has also been claimed by his family members today after post mortem at RIMS.
However, bodies of Kshetrimayum Govind (28) of Keishamthong Hodam Leikai, Tata Sumo driver Md Rahman (38) of Hatta, rickshaw driver Md Tomba (35) of Mayang Imphal Bengoon Konchak but staying at Golapati, who were also shot dead in the same encounters are also still lying at the mortuary of RIMS while the identity of two others are yet to be confirmed.
Out of the three KYKL (MDF) cadres shot dead by Bishnupur District Police Commandos during another reported encounter at Ningthoukhong Khunou in Bishnupur district in the afternoon of September 7, the bodies of two have been claimed by their family members but the identity of the third is yet to be established and lying at the mortuary of RIMS.
Body fished out: Decomposed corpse of a man was found floating near the shutter of Ithai Barrage, which is a part of Loktak Multipurpose Project, under Kumbi Police Station in Bishnupur District today.
It was detected at around 9 am today.
The victim appeared to have been murdered by drowning with a plastic rope around his waist tied to a boulder.
According to police report, the victim appeared to be a Muslim and was found clad in white Kurta, Pajama and white cap with a track-shirt of blue and red strips over the Kurta.
Police have picked up the body and deposited at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital at Lamphelpat.
