UNC economic blockade Empty trucks detained at Senapati

Senapati, November 03 2015:
Kicking off the 10 days economic blockade called by the United Naga Council (UNC), suspected volunteers of NPO and tribe hohos along NH-2 stopped and turned back empty trucks coming from Imphal towards Dimapur.
According to sources, blockade supporters restricted movement of empty trucks at different places.
No reports of damage or stone pelting have come in during the action of the blockade supporters.
Another source confirmed that volunteers manning the Senapati Dhqs areas along NH-2 detained 8 empty trucks which were violating the blockade that began from midnight of November 2 .
At Mao Gate, more than 10 trucks were stranded due to the blockade.
Sources informed that volunteers will begin strict monitoring of inter-State buses and four wheelers attempting to transport commercial items to Manipur.
Earlier, the NPO under directives of the UNC issued the mode of enforcing the economic blockade in Senapati district by restricting movement of empty trucks, tankers, commercial trucks and inter-State buses transporting commercial goods.
Vehicles carrying life saving drugs are exempted from the purview of the blockade called.
UNC imposed the blockade in protest against the passing of 3 Bills by the State Assembly and a resolution on August 31.The UNC has called for immediate intervention of the Government of India in the present political and social turmoil of Manipur.
