Ukhrul, November 03 2015:
More than three after its ceremonious inauguration, the Jessami SDO/TD Block Office continues to remain in a state of stagnancy in the face of incomplete infrastructure and inadequate staff.
The sub divisional block office was ceremoniously inaugurated by the former Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on November 2, 2011 in the presence of chief minister O Ibobi Singh.
The construction of the office building was undertaken by Manipur Development Society (MDS) .
"The building was inaugurated before its completion and since then, there has been no visible progress to complete its infrastructures till date," said Jessami village chairman Ayete Wezah, while adding that consequently the much needed office has remained nonfunctional.
Lamenting that even the Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) himself has remained out of station, Wezah said quoting official sources that the office could not function due to insufficient staff members.
"As such, the villagers here are facing much problems because we have to go till Ukhrul town whenever we need any documents/certificates for students or others from concerned SDO" .
Meanwhile, Jessami village authority also informed that the lone Primary Health Centre (PHC) in the sub divisional block is facing much the same fate of inadequacy.
"There is no adequate medical staff to run the centre and is practically nonfunctional," rued the village authority.
