JAC seeks support for arrest of Md Hasmad 'killers'

Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the brutal killing of Md Hasmad Ali alias Babu on Tuesday sought for support from all the people and organisations of the State on arresting the killers of Keirao Makting Government Primary Madrasa School Headmaster Md Hasmad Ali of Keirao Makting Awang Leikai on theft charge.
During a press meet held at Manipur Press Club on Tuesday, convener of the JAC Md Rajauddin condemned the killing of Md Hasmad Ali on Monday morning at Kongba Makha Nandeibam Leikai.
The owner of the calf which Md Hasmad Ali allegedly tried to steal, Kh Brojen has been interrogated by the police and he revealed that around seven or eight persons were involved in the killing, said Md Rajauddin.
He refuted the allegation as baseless.
The JAC convener called upon all the organisations and people of the State to extend their support on taking legal action against the culprits involved in the killing.
He also appealed the clubs and meira paibis of Kongba Nandeibam Leikai to hold meetings on the issue.
Meanwhile, people of Kongba Nandeibam Leikai on Tuesday held a meeting at Lainingthou Moriba Community Hall and discussed on the killing of Md Hasmad Ali on Monday morning at the locality.
The meeting condoled on the death of Md Hasmad Ali and termed the incident as unfortunate.
The meetin also resolved to demand release of Khumallambam Brojen, who is in police custody, without any condition since the lynching was executed by a mob.
The meeting also demanded not to arrest any person from the locality in connection with the killing and resolved to extend help in punishing those from the locality who had link with one suspect in the killing.
The meeting resolved that the identity of the victim was found out only after the police reached the sport and there was no incitement of communal feelings during the mob action.
It was also resolved to ban entry of outsiders in the locality from 10 pm onwards and appealed the authorities not colour the incident on communal lines.
