Sensitisation cum training programme conducted

Department of Social Welfare, Government of Manipur, conducted a one-day sensitisation cum training programme for ASHA and Anganwadi workers on 'child protection' at Thoubal DC counting hall today, our correspondent reports.
Thoubal DC T Ranjit (IAS); District Programme Officer, ICDS Cell, Thoubal L Sumila and District Social Welfare Officer, Thoubal, Th Nilakumar attended the training programme as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Delivering the key note address, State Child Protection Society Programme Officer Mala Lisham said the training programme intends to encourage ASHA and Anganwadi workers to join the fight against child trafficking taken up by child right activists, Lups and the police.
About 100 ASHA and Anganwadi workers from different places under Thoubal district, attended today's training programme.
Resource persons Babita Sapam, Chief Functionary, Rural Voluntary Service, Wangbal; Gyanilaxmi Th, programme manager, State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA) and Keisham Pradeepkumar, former chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, Imphal East spoke on topics like 'Combating child trafficking in Manipur', 'Illegal adoption and its remedies', 'Salient features of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000' etc during the technical session of the one-day training programme.
