Even as the anti-malaria month is being observed under the Manipur State Vector Borne Disease Control Society to prevent outbreak of malaria epidemic ahead of the onset of moonson season, atleast three patients including a child suspected to be suffering from Japanese Encephalitis or some other diseases with similar symptoms from Langmeidong area of Thoubal district have been hospitalised.
The child patient who was been admitted to the hospital with suspected symptoms of Japanese Encephalitis is identified as Wairokpam Malemnganba (13) s/o Santa of Langmeidong Maning Leikai.
On informing about the sickness of Malemnganba by the authorities of his school hostel, family members immediately took him to RIMS Hospital for treatment.
But not happy with the negligence attitude of the doctors at RIMS, Malemnganba was taken to Shija Hospital for further treatment.
As his condition improved after the treatment, Malemnganba is now staying at his home.
According to his family members, apart from paralysis of his left side of his body, Malemnganba could not even speak before the treatment.
Even now he could not move about normally.
Doctors at Shija Hospital had diagnosed the symptoms as that of Japanese Encephalitis or some other similar diseases, Santa, father of Malemnganba informed. Another patient identified as Yumnam Shyamkishore (58) of Langmeidong Mamang Leikai is also reportedly undergoing treatment with symptoms of severe headache, fever, vomiting and swooning, all related to malaria.
While Samom Yaiskul (40) of Langmeidong Maning Leikai who had been treated at JN Hospital was advised by the doctors for undergoing blood testing.
The result of the blood test conducted at Ardash Lab confirmed it as the positive case of Gametocytes of P Falciparum.
Alarm over the possible outbreak of malaria in the area, All Manipur Anti-Drug Association has provided sprayers and three bags of DDT through the volunteers of the two local clubs who have started spraying the same in the area.
