Imphal, July 01:
In addition to the highly irregular nature of releasing monthly salaries for Government employees particularly of school teachers, sometimes not releasing at all for 5/6 months at a stretch, the failure of the State Bank of India, Senapati branch to pay salaries to school teachers (account holders) is causing severe hardships to the employees, asserted that a press release issued by the Senapati District Elementary School Teachers' Association.
The failure of the SBI Senapati Branch to pay salaries to Govt employees even as the requisite amount has been sanctioned by the Government has become endemic with no sign of improvement at sight.
Such irresponsibility and inefficiency of the SBI branch has been causing more acute difficulties and hardships to employees belonging to far flung areas.
They are being subjected to unnecessary harassment of travelling long distances day after day, knocking at the bank's door to claim what is legally theirs, observed the Association.
Unlike other employees, such unnecessary harassment to teachers has serious implications to quality education being pursued all over the State with special focus on Government schools, it noted.
Frequent visit to the bank only means skipping of classes more often.
