The proscribed RPF and its armed wing PLA have offered revolutionary salutes to its late cadre PM Zimik Sonington alias Angam s/o Zimik Mashangam and Zimik Sangniwon of Ato Nungou village, Ukhrul district.
A press release issued by the Chief of the Department of Communication and Publicity RPF N Wangba informed that Sonington died in an unfortunate incident on June 18 this year.
He joined the outfit on November 10 last year to contribute his mite to the liberation struggle.
In fact, PM Zimik Sonington alias Angam was a sincere PLA cadre who believed in the paramountcy of Manipur's sovereignty.
Born on November 17, 1989, Zimik Sonington was a laborious person.
His sacrifices and contributions towards the liberation struggle during the short spell as a PLA cadre would be remembered forever.
The unfortunate incident which claimed the life of Zimik Sonington took place when Zimik and two other PLA cadres went to take medicines for one ailing cadre.
On the way, the three cadres crossed a big river with swift current during which Zimik got drowned.
Despite the best efforts of the PLA to locate the corpse with the help of local people so that it can be handed over to his parents, all efforts went in vain because of the strong current and high water level.
For its inability to hand over the corpse of Zimik to his parents, the outfit conveyed deep regret.
While condoling the death of Zimik Sonington with deep regrets, the outfit also shared the pain and sorrow being endured by the bereaved family.
