Two suspected UG cadres were killed in a shoot out with Thoubal district commandos at Uyan Khunou Yerum Ching, about 12 kms South East of Yairipok police station at about 4 pm today.
According to information received from police, a team of Thoubal police commandos moved towards Uyan Khunou to conduct frisking exercise today afternoon.
However, on seeing the police vehicle, four individuals on foot fired some rounds towards the vehicle and fled.
The commandos pursued and retaliated in which two unidentified youths were killed.
One 9 mm pistol with five live rounds and Chinese hand grenade were recovered from the two slain cadres.
Yairipok police have picked up the corpses and deposited them at RIMS mortuary.
Both the deceased appeared to be below 25 years of age.
They have fair complexion and are slim.
One of the slain youths was wearing white T shirt, blue jeans, dark tan belt and slippers.
Bullet wounds were observed on the head.
The other youth was found wearing a full sleeve shirt of white colour with orange and green strips above a black T shirt.
He was also wearing blue jeans and dark tan belt and slippers.
