Shillong, July 01:
The Central Government interlocutor in the Naga peace process, Oscar Fernandes has expressed concern over the factional clashes between the NSCN-K and NSCN-IM.
Fernandess lamentation came ahead of another round of talks with the NSCN (IM) leadership scheduled sometime this month.
Fernandes who was in Shillong told newsmen last night, While the talks with the NSCN-IM leadership is on the right track, the breach of ceasefire ground rules by both factions of the NSCN is really unwarranted.
On being questioned about the role of the ceasefire monitoring cell in containing the factional fights, Fernandes said, Yes we are worried but tell me which solution do we adopt.
Anyone can come and offer us solution to stop these developments, stated Fernandes.
Stating that the next round of talks with the NSCN (IM) leadership is expected to yield further positive results, Fernandes ruled out any notion of pulling out from the peace process.
Informing that various constituted government groups are working with other insurgent outfits to bring about lasting peace in the North eastern region, Fernandes however ruled out any immediate talks with the proscribed United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA).
I will not elaborate, but there are existing difficulties that make our government not to take immediate venture of talking to the ULFA, said Oscar Fernandez while talking to the media.
