Skill training programme on 'Fish Rearing and Management' concludes

CCpur, March 26 2019: The 6 (six) days non-residential Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY) on the topic "Fish Rearing and Management" was successfully completed on 21st Match 2019 with a valedictory function graced Dr.Narendra Prakash, Director, ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya as Chief Guest, Dr.Niranjan Lal, Senior Scientist & Head KVK Churachandpur as President and Dr.P.K.Saraswat, Senior Scientist as Guest of Honour.

Dr..NSoranganba, ACTO (Fishery) and Training Co-ordinator of the training programme along with all the subject experts and staff of the KVK were instrumental in making the programme a grand success.

Certificates were distributed during the valedictory function.

The training was organised at the office of the KVK Churachandpur in association with State Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Manipur and National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE) .

Skill training programme on 'Fish Rearing and Management'

A total of 28 trainees including 9 female and 19 male from 13 villages participated the training programme.

Dr.Narendra Prakash stresses on the importance of diversified farming practices and the role of fisheries in socio-economic upliftment of the farmers.

Dr.Niranjan Lal highlighted the importance of scientific approach toward profitable fish farming and encourages the participants in taking up fishery as a profession.

He welcomes the trainees to come forward and be associated with the KVK for any technical knowhow.

During interaction with the trainees, few voluntarily express their views and thanks for knowledge and technical knowhow gathered during the training programme.

Mr.Xavier Nengkhamlian from Thingkhangphai village who initially had the problem of slow fish growth at his fish pond was resolved and understood from the training programme.

Another farmer named Mr..TChinkhanthang from Bungmual village expressed happiness after learning the specific stocking ratio, rate of fingerlings and their feeding management.

Most of the training sessions were design for open discussion and interaction.
