Minor girl found dead

A young unmarried woman was found dead yesterday at Leirongthel Ngamu Leirou Thokpa Loukhong, near Canal no 1, Thoubal Project, Thoubal district.
The deceased hailed from Chandrakhong Maning Leikai under Nongpok Sekmai PS, Thoubal District.
According to a reliable source, the girl was allegedly called out of her home by her boyfriend identified as one Leishangthem Ashakumar (24) s/o L Ningthem of Leirongthel Makha Leikai in the evening of March 22 and had remained missing for two days until she was found dead yesterday.
Upon receiving the news of the girl's death, the irate villagers reportedly ransacked the house of Leishangthem Ashakumar, who later surrendered to the police.
Fortunately, timely intervention by the police prevented any major damages to the house, the source added.

On the other hand, Special Judge POCSO Thoubal remanded three people, including Ashakumar, to 8 days police custody (till April 2) in connection with the case.
Ashakumar, along with the other two identified as Khumanthem Rabi (24) s/o (L) Munal of Leirongthel Sabal Leikai and Khomdram Joychandra (30) s/o Iboton of Leirongthel Awang Leikai, were produced before the Court of Special Judge POCSO Imphal East, who is also holding the charge of Special Judge POCSO Thoubal, by a team of Thoubal Women Police along with a prayer for remanding them in police custody for smooth investigation of the case.
The IO of the case submitted that on March 24, at around 4.30 pm, the mother of the victim, lodged a complaint to the OC of Women PS, stating that the previous day, at around 6.30 pm, her daughter left home after being induced by the prime suspect Leishangthem Arunkumar.
However, no news was received from her daughter even after some time had passed and accordingly a missing person's case was registered by Women Police Thoubal.
During the course of the investigation, the prime suspect Leishangthem Arunkumar was arrested from Yairipok Leirongthel yesterday at around 12.30 pm and in the meantime the locals brought news about the presence of a dead body of a minor girl at Leirongthel Ngamuleirou Thokpi Khong.
The IO also submitted that two more accused of the case Khumanthem Rabi and Khomdram Joychandra were also arrested by Women Police Thoubal and preliminary interrogation of the accused persons was conducted.
However, the IO mentioned that accused persons were reluctant to disclose any fact of the crime and as such prayed for remanding them in police custody.
After hearing the submission of the IO, the Court allowed the prayer and remanded the three individuals to 8 days in police custody.
A public meeting was held at Chandrakhong community hall where a JAC was formed in connection with Monica's death.
Various resolutions were also adopted during the meeting including arrest of all those involved, death penalty for the culprits and it was also decided that if the JAC's demands are not met then the body of the deceased will not be claimed.
It was also resolved that a sit in protest will be organised tomorrow by partially blocking the Yairipok Keithel road.
On the other hand, Leirongthel-Malom club, Meira Paibis and the people held a meeting at Leirongthel community hall and adopted certain resolutions which included just punishment for all those involved in the murder, banishing the accused from the locality.
On the other hand it was also resolved to support the people of Chandrakhong in all their agitation but it was also made clear that if the said accused people were to get acquitted from the case, the Chandrakhong community will have to compensate for all the destruction carried out at the residence of the accused.
