YUFC, GSC cruise into 23rd Winners' Cup semis

Yarkhok United FC, Ukhrul completed a 5-2 aggregate against SFC, Senapati while GSC, Churachandpur earned a 2-1 win against KDC, Chandel yesterday to cruise into the semi-finals of the 23rd Thangjam Birachandra-Maipakpi Memorial Winners' Cup for Men 2019 organised by All Manipur Football Association.
In the match played at SFC's home ground, YUFC which sealed a 2-1 win at TNL ground showed a more mature side and eased to a 3-1 win to ensure their place in the last 4 round.
Worchipei Kashong shone in this match finding the net twice to overturn an early goal deficit while Chanso Horam finish off the scoring to set up a clinical 3-1 win.
SFC made the very first move to open up the scoring with Yunshalo Kent beating past YUFC keeper in the 6th minute but Worchipei Kashong cancelled the lead with a well taken shot in the 23rd minute.
The first half ended 1-1 despite attempts from both the ends to break the deadlock.
YUFC which faced a stiff opposition after the restart got some fresh time as the game progressed and had their lead as Worchipei Kashong maintained his cool to take the strike in the 70th minute before Chanso Horam blasted home the last goal in the 83rd minute.
Daveikho Maizamo of SFC was yellow carded by the referee in the 28th minute of the match.
Elsewhere, GSC which routed KDC, Chandel 4-1 in their home, tie pulled off a 2-1 win against KDC yesterday to book their semi-finals berth.
KDC found the opener in the 40th minute through Y Sonam only to be equalised three minutes later with Khupneingir of GSC finding the net.
The Churachandpur side were on top of the world as they found the winner late in the 88th minute through Boigen and accomplished their semi-finals run with a 6-2 finish after the two games.
