Imphal, August 24 2013 :
Learning that the State and Central Government are under process to give away Choro village of Ukhrul district to Myanmar in exchange of land at Moreh in Chandel district, the Chairman of Ukhrul ADC, John Raleng has urged the Union Home Mi-nister to save and protect Choro village.
In a representation, the ADC chairman brought to the notice of the Union Home Minister that Choro village is a hill-house tax paying village inhabited by the Manipu- ri Indians in Ukhrul district.
Pointing out that the village and neighbouring areas were wisely saved during the Kabaw valley gift to the then Burma, the chairman urged the Minister to consider historical fact relating to Choro village and retain the same.
The representation also conveyed strong opposition of the people to the process for ceding the land to Myanmar.
