New Delhi, August 24 2013 :
In an attempt to draw the Centre's attention, about a thousand mem- bers of the All India State Government Employees' Confede- rations staged demonstration yesterday in Delhi for implementation of the 6th Central pay commission to the States.
Three members from Manipur represented the State employees.
Participating in the demonstration, General Secretary of All Manipur Govt Higher Se-condary Lecturer's Associa- tion, Maisnam Joykumar said the 6th pay commission included the State employees as well but till today State employees were paid only the Basic scale pay, but other allowance such as TA, medical etc were not added.
The State government has also initiated a move under the public private partnership such as schools and hospitals, Joykumar told The Sangai Express.
Maintaining that educational institutions such as schools and colleges are not business centres and not a profit making establishment, Joykumar argued that this are human resource investment and privatization is a wrong concept.
A memorandum was submitted to the Prime Minister for a pay scale under 6th pay commission, pension benefit, that employees of NRHM (such as ASHAs), SSA etc be treated as equal with Govt employees, to ensure social security, policy directions, to fill up vacancies, and to set a uniform retirement age.
It also demanded that the new pension scheme be scrapped.
The memorandum also sought to stop privatization of government departments.
The 6th pay commission set up in October 2006 under the Finance Ministry had revised the pay scale in 2008.The Central pay commissions have also recommended for revision of the state employees as well.
