3 hurt in blast, grenades found

At least three persons have been injured in a bomb blast near Imphal West DC office this morning.
On the other hand, two hand grenades have been recovered including one from RIMS.
A bomb planted over a po-wer transformer installed by the side of a road leading to DC office from Naorem-thong Laishram Leirak was triggered at about 5.45 am, apparently targeting a team of CRPF personnel.
A bullet-proof armoured truck and a water tanker of CRPF were passing by the road when the bomb explod-ed.
Before this, a team of CRPF personnel went past the spot on patrol duty.
However, all the CRPF personnel escaped unscathed while three civilians sustained minor injuries.
The injured civilians have been identified as Laishram Nimai (33) s/o Shyamjai of Naoremthong Laishram Lei-rak, Sanasam Jiten (49) s/o Budhi of DC Maning and Lovejoy (30) s/o Selender of Chingai, Ukhrul district but staying at RIMS quarter colony.
All three of them were hit by shrapnels and were rushed to RIMS.

According to Nimai, supervisor of the Centre for Re- search on Environmental Development (CRED), the bomb exploded when he was supervising the process of in-jecting fuel to waste dumper vans.
The bomb was suspected to be IED.
Bushes growing in the nearby were charred and blown away at the impact of the blast.
Later CRPF and police officials and explosive experts scanned the blast site.
Meanwhile, decrying the bomb blast, local womenfolk staged a protest demonstration at Naoremthong Lai- shram Khullem community hall.
On the other hand, a hand grenade was found inside a thicket of bushes on the eastern side of RIMS blood bank.
Workers who were engaged to clear off the bushes came across the grenade at around 4 pm today.
Bomb disposal squad of Manipur Police have retrieved the hand grenade.
Earlier, another hand grenade was found at the residential gate of PWD Additional Chief Engineer (Electrical/Mechanical Division) Mutum Thamon at about 5.55 am this morning at Khoyathong.
The grenade was retrieved by a bomb disposal squad of Manipur Police and was set off safely at Lamphelpat.
CRED decries blast: Expressing serious concern regarding the bomb blast near its waste collecting vehicle parked at the roadside for garbage collection at Naoremthong Laishram Leirak near DC office road under Imphal West this morning, Centre for Research on Environment Development (CRED) has stated that bomb blast in public places endangering innocent people itself is condemnable by one and all.
A press statement of CRED said, the organisation is on humanitarian service by cleaning waste; recycle waste materials, giving employment to the youths.
Three people got injured in the blast and were hospitalised including one of its staff members who was filling the fuel and arranging the vehicle for service.
The concerned authority is appealed to ensure safety and security for the peace loving citizen of Manipur and non state actors should not create any fear psychosis to the public in future, it appealed.
Attack condemned: Kharam Union Manipur (KUM) has strongly condemned the bomb attack at the official residence of L Darsinso Aimol, MCS, CEO, ADC Chandel at Game Village by unknown person, some days back.
In its press release, KUM stated that kidnapping and bomb blast for ransom, extortion etc are against the revolutionary principle.
All concerned are appealed not to repeal such kind of unwanted activities.
