1420 rice bags intercepted, seized

Amidst recent speculations and reports about export of rice through Moreh which is a listed under Public Distribution System, 1420 bags of rice which were being transported to Moreh were intercepted and seized by police at Pallel this morning.
The rice bags were being transported in four trucks bearing registration number MN 01-7979, MN 03-1786, MN 01-8139 and MN 01-8545, informed a police source.
Trucks bearing registration number MN 01-7979 and MN 01-8139 were loaded with 365 rice bags each.
The truck bear-ing registration number MN 03-1786 was carrying 370 bags of rice while the fourth truck bearing registration number MN 01-8545 was loaded with 320 bags of rice.
The trucks bearing registration numbers MN 01-7979 and MN 01-8139 produced forged documents purportedly issued to one RK Sanayaima by the Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Department.
They also carried fake challans purportedly issued by the Directorate of CAF&PD.
The other two trucks bearing registration numbers MN 03-1786 and MN 01-8545 too carried forged documents issued in the name of ADC Moreh.
As all the documents carried by the four trucks looked sus-picious, SDPO Kakching personally went to CAF&PD go- down at Sangaiprou and verified the documents with the godown Superintendent.
As suspected, all the documents turned out to be fake.
All the four trucks have been taken to Pallel commando complex and due process has been initiated to register a case, added the source.
