Imphal, August 12 2026:
Volunteers of the Campaign for Just & Fair Delimitation (JFD) Students' Wing disrupted census related training for enumerators and supervisors at the SK Women's College, Nambol, Bishnupur district today.
The training on houselisting exercise for enumerators and supervisors was about to be launched at the college's conference hall this morning when the JFD student volunteers disrupted it as part of their campaign for NRC updation before census.
The training was scheduled to last till August 25 .
Before the training programme could begin, JFD student volunteers stormed the premises and instructed the trainees to vacate and lock the conference hall.
After the conference hall was locked from the outside, the volunteers then proceeded to stage a protest demonstration in front of the college gate.
Nambol police and commandos later arrived at the college and a commotion broke out between the security forces and the protesters.
Some protesters were detained and taken to Nambol police station before being released.
Even though there were semester examinations being conducted at the college today, JFD Students' Wing volunteers said great care was taken not to disturb the examinations.
On the other hand, JFD's protest demonstration demanding NRC update before census continued at the Wangkhei WAL Club ground for the third day today.
