A class XII girl student from Yaiskul Janmasthan has saved the life of an injured cow by rushing her to a private veterinary clinic today.
Timely treatment of the cow was however delayed due to the absence of veterinary doctors at Veterinary Hospital, Sanjenthong.
The cow was injured badly on the abdomen after an earth excavator tried to move her while she was lying with her 25-day old calf on Uripok-Kangchup road at Uripok Canteen area at around 10.30 last night.
RK Devachandra and his wife RK Sushila and daughter RK Neha came across the cow when they went to the area to purchase medicine last night.
Even after the news was published in some sections of the media today, nobody came forward to rush the cow to the veterinary hospital for treatment.
As such, Class XII student RK Neha along with some persons rushed the cow and her calf to Veterinary Hospital, Sanjenthong for treatment in a DI Tata at around 10.30 am today.
However, the cow did not get treatment there due to absence of veterinary doctors.
Later, the injured animal was shifted to Dr Devkishore's Claws and Paws Clinic, Langol Games Village with the help of People for Animal volunteers and given treatment there.
Surgery of the cow's injury took around three hours.
After the surgery, Dr Devkishore said that the injury would heal in 10 days.
However, the cow's condition would deteriorate if she does not stand up within two days, he said.
RK Neha said that people have been facing inconveniences due to the absence of veterinary doctors at Veterinary Hospital, Sanjenthong.
Managing Trustee of People for Animal, L Bishorjit said that Dr Devkishore and PFA would bear all the medical expenses of the injured cow.
